The Beginnings of Weber: From a First Store to a Place for Real Listening
The Weber story began in the early 1990s. The spark came from a visit to Tuzex and a first encounter with a SONY system featuring a CD player and cassette deck. On 4 November 1991, Milan Weber and his friend Robert opened the first SONY specialist store in Moravia.
A Small Space with Great Determination
The first store had 28 m², plus a stockroom and office. The early days were not easy: the shop was attractive and the team was ready, but customers did not come at first. A targeted campaign of 15,000 leaflets distributed around Těšín and the surrounding area changed that. Before long, people were waiting outside the store for it to open.
A New Step in 1996
In June 1996, a larger store opened in the city centre. Alongside SONY, the range grew to include Philips, NAD, Rotel, Denon, Tannoy, Mission and LOEWE. A dedicated listening room was a key part of the new store — a place where customers could do more than see the equipment; they could listen to it properly.
More Than a Sale
From the start, the focus was personal service: offering advice, demonstrating equipment, showing what a system could do and then installing it. This combination of technology, careful listening and attentive customer care remains the foundation of Weber today.
